PURPOSE:To reduce unnecessary ink consumption or the decrease of a recording speed caused by emission recovery processing in an ink jet recording apparatus. CONSTITUTION:An emitted ink droplet 11 is charged by holding the ink stored in the liquid chamber 10R of a recording head 10 to fixed potential and an electrode 8 is provided in the vicinity of ink emitting orifices 61-63. By this constitution, it is judged whether or not ink is practically emitted on the basis of the change of potential due to the charge emitted ink droplet 11 of the electrode 8 when the ink emitting driving of the recording head is performed and emission recovery processing can be performed only in the case of non-emission. |
