EFFICIENT METHOD FOR EXTRACTING RESIN CONTAINING TAXOLS

PURPOSE:To provide a process for extracting a resin containing carcinostatic agent taxol from the tissue of a plant of the genus Taxus to obtain a taxol- containing resin having low impurity content in high extraction yield. CONSTITUTION:The extraction solvent for the present process contains one or more compounds selected from ethyl acetate, ether, acetonitrile and acetone and the total concentration of the compounds in the solvent is >=10wt.%. The taxol content in the resin can be increased by single extraction operation to a high level unattainable by conventional technique and the recovery of taxol from the plant tissue can be maintained to a level comparable to or higher than the level of the conventional method.
