A wood chip screening system has a number of parallel rotating shafts each carrying a number of spaced parallel intermeshed discs to accept fines and some good chips. The screening is stopped prior to full screening and the remaining chips passed to a conventional roller screen with multiple rotating rollers spaced to reject overthick and/or overlong chips onto a reject conveyor. - The 1st screen has rollers (2) with intermeshing discs (1) to rapidly pass fines and a few acceptable chips into a hopper (12). A small capacity fines screen (13) under the hopper rejects fines and transfers good chips to an accept conveyor (14). The discharge over the 1st screen passes to a conventional roller screen (10) with accepts passing through onto the accepts conveyor (14) and rejects passing over onto a rejects conveyor (15) for rechipping. |
