PURPOSE:To produce the composite metal oxide exhibiting excellent characteristics as a thickening agent, a thermal stabilizer, etc., for resins, etc., by calcining a magnesium hydroxide solid solution of the formula at a prescribed temperature. CONSTITUTION:A magnesium hydroxide solid solution of formula: Mg1-xM<2+>x(OH2)2 (M<2+> is selected from Mn<2+>, Fe<2+>, Co<2+>, Ni<2+>, Cu<2+> and Zn<2+>; x is 0.001-0.5) is calcined at 400-1000 deg.C to produce a magnesium oxide solid solution of formula: Mg1-xM<2+>Ox. 0.001-20 pts.wt. of the composite metal oxide is compounded with 100 pts.wt. of a resin, etc., to provide a resin composition and/or a rubber composition. |
