A bow-shaped block of square cross-section is cut from a single piece of wood, and then worked to define a cambered surface of predetermined curvature. All four faces of the block are worked using a set of templates to reduce them to the required dimensions and surface configurations. The block is then worked to define an octagonal cross-section, and the edges of this cross-section are then chamfered to define the final rounded cross-section. End fittings and location points for the strings of the bow may then be attached at the appropriate locations. USE/ADVANTAGE - Simplified manufacturing procedure for bow of stringed musical instrument, with greater dimensional accuracy and tolerance.
