Device is claimed for preheating a continuous casting nozzle, of the type that incorporates a gas burner (2) which is fixed on a support structure (6) on which is also fixed a device for measuring the temperature of the nozzle (1), the outlet of which is connected to a device (4) for controlling the operation of the burner (2). The support structure (6) comprises a support base (9) on which is fixed one end of a support arm (10), incorporating two parts (10a,10b) which slide in each other, this arm carrying in an articulated manner a chassis (12) incorporating at least one branch (12a) for supporting the burner (2). USE/ADVANTAGE - The device is used for the preheating of a nozzle used in the continuous casting of steel. The device is simple and reliable whilst allowing a precise control of the preheating of continuous casting nozzles that is reproducible whatever the environmental conditions and whoever may be the operator. It reduces the risk of decarburisation of the materials used in the fabrication of the nozzle and of coagulation of the steel during casting due to imprecise positioning of the burners and temperature measurements that are possible without this device.
