In this process, solvents are used which are distinguished by a high selectivity in relation to the particular separation objective and at the same time form miscibility gaps with the hydrocarbons of the feedstock under the concentration and temperature conditions employed. The mass transfer conditions in the extractive distillation column are arranged in this case in such a way that large exchange surfaces are present both between the two liquid phases and also between the liquid phases and the vapour phase.
