<p>A set of tape cassettes (1) of different sizes which each includes electrical information-representing terminals (4a-4d) and which are used with a common recording and/or reproduction apparatus and a recording and/or reproduction apparatus with which those tape cassettes can be selectively used. The information represented by the electrical information-representing terminals is read by detection means common to the tape cassettes of the different sizes. The electrical information-representing terminals are disposed at equal distances (D1) on the tape cassettes from corresponding outer side faces (2a) of the tape cassettes. A detection block (22), on which a connector (25) for contacting with the electrical information-representing terminals (4a-4d) is provided on a tape cassette to read the corresponding electrical information. A detection switch (24) is also provided integrally on the block for detecting a wrong erasure preventing element (8) on the tape cassette.The block is moved, in response to the size of a tape cassette loaded in position into the recording and/or reproduction apparatus, to a position determined for the size in advance. <IMAGE></p> |
