PURPOSE:To shrink the fitting area to a steering wheel, allow quick deployment to the side, and improve the strength of a module cover by providing the base end section of the module cover at an erected section provided on the periphery section of the fitting plate at the root section of the steering wheel, burying a meshy insertion in the cover, and penetrating a connecting member through buried metals of the base end section. CONSTITUTION:A module cover 25 is fitted to a rear erected section 31 from the side, the outer size of a fitting plate 12 is small, thus an air bag device can be compactly stored at the center section of a steering wheel 11. When a vehicle collides and an air bag 16 is inflated, the cover 25 is ruptured, the support point of the base end section 32 of the cover 25 is located behind the crew direction fitting face 17 of the fitting plate 12 at the time of rupture, thus the cover 25 is opened so as to be deflected to the side at the time of deployment, and the bag 16 is quickly deployed unidirectionally. The strength of the cover 25 is high because an insertion 27 is buried. Metals 28 and 29 are connected to the erected section 31 with a connecting member 35, thus the fitting strength of the cover 25 is high. |
