A process is set forth for removing and destroying low concentrations of oxidizable organic contaminants from a gas stream. The process comprises adsorbing the contaminants onto an adsorbent followed by an in situ catalytic oxidation of the contaminants into innocuous products. A key feature of the process is that it provides for water removal and oxygen enrichment throughout the desorption/oxidation of the contaminants. <IMAGE>
