The chipping tool (5,6) consists of a blade ring (5) with axis-parallel chipping blades (4). A baffle wall (15) is located in the blade ring, and is moveable in axial direction by a drive (14). In rear end position, the baffle wall forms the rear wall of the chipping chamber (7). In front end position, it is approx. aligned in the face plane of the chipping tool, which faces the timer supply groove (1). The blade ring is concentrically surrounded by an impact wheel (6), which is driven in opposite direction. The chip removal slot associated with each blade is limited by a chip guide face. The chipping chamber is relatively short. USE/ADVANTAGE - Cuts strands or wafers from long timber, with minimum thickness variations.
