Drum for receiving a cable, in particular in connection with the movement of a door leaf, which drum is provided on its lateral surface with a guide groove which is designed in such a manner as to proceed helically in the circumferential and axial direction of the drum and into which the wound cable is correspondingly received by being guided in a single layer. For a simple and inexpensive production of the drum, it is designed in such a way that at least the lateral wall consists of a metal sheet into which the guide groove is impressed, and is produced in its entirety by a cold extrusion process.
