The sealing device is for a rotating shaft (10). It has at least one sealing running surface (18,19) on the shaft and/or a surface (23) of the casing part (3) within a container (1) covered with a thin layer which has higher resistance to friction, abrasion and corrosion. The layer may consist of titanium nitride or titanium carbide, deposited from the gas phase by chemical or physical vapour deposition - or of aluminium oxide, in which case a flame spraying-on process is applied - or of chromium, in which case it is deposited galvanically. |
