The invention relates to the use of a pyrrolidone derivative for potentiating the bactericidal activity of a bactericidal agent. The pyrrolidone derivative may be 2-pyrrolidone or a polyvinylpyrrolidone and may be used in an amount between 0.001% and 5% by weight relative to the total weight of the bactericidal composition in its final bactericidal use form. The potentiating effect of the pyrrolidone derivative is particularly unexpected.
