An electrical security device for motor vehicle doors has a conductor (4) from the battery (1) extending to a bistable relay (2) which moves between contacts (9) and (10), depending on whether switch (15) or switch (16) is closed, activating the respective coils (11) and (12). The left-and contact is connected to the ignition switch (3). The input lead has a fuse (6) which can be removed to disable the relay and then inserted in a bridging conductor (7) to the ignition switch. The right-hand switch is a door switch, open when the door is closed and closed when the door is open. The left-hand switch is a hidden reed switch, known only to the driver.
