A sectional cast-iron boiler with an atmospheric gas burner for central heating, which makes it possible to achieve extremely low emissions of nitrogen monoxide and carbon monoxide, comprises a series of plates (2), the walls of which in contact with the burnt gases are lined with cast-iron studs (9) of oblong cross-section truncated at the top (10) which are arranged in a zig-zag manner in relation to a vertical axis. The length of the studs (9) is essentially equal to half the spacing between two adjacent plates (2) and increases from the bottom to the top so as to constitute obstacles which ensure the turbulence of a rising flow of burnt gases in three orthogonal directions and the evaporation of the droplets of condensed water which fall onto the truncated top (10) of the studs (9), and the bottom of the combustion chamber (7) is covered with a steel sheet (19) which has perforations (30). <IMAGE>
