The container (3) can be raised and lowered by simultaneously swivelling out the four support elements (2). Only one double- acting lift cylinder (8) is associated with the support elements lying on a longitudinal side and the coupling between the support elements and cylinder is provided by a front intermediate lever (3) and rear intermediate lever (4) which are connected together for swivel movement through coupling points by a coupling rod (15). When the four support elements are swivelled out the container load can be lowered right down to the ground to adapt stepped or infinitely to the loading height. When the container is in the raised position the supports have a definite inclined position and do not project sideways beyond the container.
