The arrangement carries along a sliding head lining in the vehicle roof. The coupling element is an elongated locking bar (7) connected by one (7A) to the lining (6). The other end (7B) has one side a projection (11) to engage a recess (10) in the guide rail (4). The recess and the projection have oblique running surfaces (10A,10B and 11A,11B) in the movement direction of the locking bar. The bar has on its other side an engagement recess (12) with an oblique surface (12A) which engages the carrier element (9) during the adjustment movement of the cover. USE/ADVANTAGE - Simplified mechanism with fewer parts in vehicle sliding roof which is cheaper to produce.
