PURPOSE:To make possible connection without requiring any special connector by forming a metal thin film on the cut end face of an optical fiber, piercing a circular hole having is center in the specific position of this film, securing a spherical lens by way of the circular hole and connecting the fibers. CONSTITUTION:A metal thin film 6 having a uniform thickness T is formed on the cut face of an optical fiber OF1 constituted by a core 1A and clad 1B. Next, a circular hole having an arbitrary radius r is pierced in the position of a deviation amount y=f.Sindelta from the optical axis center along the end face of the OF1 on the thin film. Here, the focal length of the spherical lens 3 to be mounted lef f and r is made smaller than the radius R of the spherical lens 3.
