PURPOSE:To uniformly finish-grind a wavy surface by controlling the vertical position of a grinding head using the vertical displacement of a contact wheel pressed to the surface of a work with a spring at a fixed pressure. CONSTITUTION:A work 12 having a wavy surface is fixed on a work table, then the grinding head 6 is vertically adjusted by an electrohydraulic mechanism 10 to press a grinding belt 1 to the work 12. The grinding pressure is adjusted by a pressure adjusting bolt 17. A differential transformer 9 which detects the displacement of the contact wheel 2 is calibrated to make the initial position of the contact wheel 2 a reference position. The grinding head 6 is vertically controlled according to the detection of the position of the contact wheel 2 to always press the grinding belt 1 against the surface of the work, thus uniformly grinding the surface of the work. |
