Device, especially of the ascending type, which essentially comprises a fixed upper apron 1 which carries a punch 9, a movable lower apron 2, which carries a die 10, hydraulic actuating means 3, 4 and a pedal 7 whereby the operator is able to control these actuating means and therefore the operation of shaping plates. The device according to the invention is characterized essentially in that means are provided which make it possible to accelerate the downward movement of the movable apron. In addition to this provision is also made for systems for regulating the depth of shaping in order to adjust and fix the movable apron in the structure of the machine, in order to damp the movable apron in its rapid downward movement and in order effortlessly to control the actuating means by means of a pedal controlled by the operator.
