PURPOSE:To realize stable recording characteristic by forming a protective film in a manner that the film has enough thickness to prevent the fracture of a light reflecting film due to deformation along the light reflecting film and the protective film accompanying the formation of pits in a recording film. CONSTITUTION:This optical recording medium 1 consists of a recording film 12 formed on a light transmitting substrate 11, a light reflecting film 13 formed on the recording film 12, and further a protective film 14 formed on the light reflecting film 13. This protective film 14 has enough thickness to prevent the fracture of the light reflecting film due to deformation in the light reflecting film 13 and the protective film 14 caused by the formation of pits in the recording film 12. When the protective film 14 is formed too thin, reproduced waves are deteriorated by the deformation of the light reflecting film 13 and protective film 14 caused by the formation of pits, and if further too thin, the reflecting film 13 and the protective film 14 are partly broken. Thus, the protective film 14 has enough thickness to prevent such problems so that normal reproduction can be stably performed. |
