A method for obtaining sulphur in the wet gas desulphurisation process, consisting in absorption of sulphur-containing contamination in the solution of hydroquinone and sodium carbonate, the regeneration of the absorption solution by means of aeration, the sedimentation of the separated sulphur foam, the filtration of the non-purified sulphur suspension, the repulpation of the sulphur paste, the washing with water, and the filtration of purified sulphur suspension, from which flotation sulphur is obtained, characterized in that the absorption of hydrogen sulphide is carried out at hydroquinone concentration of 0.4-2 g/m<3>, and preferably 0.6-1.2 g/dm<3>, the regeneration of the absorption solution is carried out at the air/absorption solution volume flow ratio from 2:1 up to 10:1, and preferably from 3:1 up to 7:1, whereas the filtration of non-purified sulphur solution and the filtration of purified sulphur solution are both carried out at temperature of 288-340K, the use of water for the washing of sulphur during the first filtration of non-purified sulphur suspension is less than 2 m<3>/t of wet sulphur, for repulpation 3-14m<3>/t of wet sulphur, and for the second filtration of purified sulphur 2-6m<3>/t of wet sulphur.
