PURPOSE:To provide a hydrogen storage alloy electrode for a battery allowing quick charge while restraining a drop in battery lifetime by keeping an interfacial active agent at least in a part of gaps within the electrode using hydrogen storage alloy powder, and forming a water rejecting resin layer at least on a part of the surface thereof. CONSTITUTION:An electrode is prepared by using a hydrogen storage alloy, for example, powder of MnNi3.7Mn0.4Al0.3Co0.6 as one of an LaNi5 alloy, and, then, immersed for five minutes in hot water of 45 deg.C added with 0.5wt.% of a commercially available neutral interfacial active agent (alkylether sulfate). Thereafter, the electrode is dried at 80 deg.C and tetrafluoroethylene-propylene hexafluoride copolymer powder is applied to the surface of the electrode by an amount of 0.3 to 0.4 mg/cm<2>. According to this construction, discharge capacity between 93% and 96% can be maintained at a quick charging process. |
