MANUFACTURE OF LEAD-ACID BATTERY AND ELECTRICAL CONDUCTIVE CERAMIC FIBER ADDED THERETO

PURPOSE:To provide a manufacture of a lead-acid battery having extended cycle life time and higher energy density by restraining production of non- movable layer made of lead sulfate or lead oxide on the surface of a active material and electrical conductive ceramic fibers added to the battery. CONSTITUTION:An electrical conductive ceramic thin film formed of ferric oxide and antimony oxide is formed in thickness of 0.25 micro m on a nickel substrate 13 having a groove and being subjected to mold-release process by means of spattering vapor deposition. The nickel substrate 13 having an electrical conductive ceramic thin film formed thereon is cleaned by ultrasonic wave for about five minutes in ethanol so as to separate the conductive ceramic thin film in fiber condition from the nickel substrate 13. An active material to which the conductive ceramic fiber of 5 weight percent is produced and a lead-acid battery is made by using the active material.
