RECORDING/REPRODUCING APPARATUS MEETING DIFFERENT KINDS OF MEDIA

PURPOSE:To record/reproduce tape cassettes of different widths or sizes by providing means for setting reel stages corresponding to the tape cassettes of different sizes storing tape-like data recording media and a guiding means for setting tape guides corresponding to the tapes of different widths. CONSTITUTION:A cassette adapter means 100 is provided in the recording/ reproducing apparatus. The kind of a loaded tape cassette is detected by an automatic detecting means 200. The tape cassette is fitted to a reel stage by a reel stage means 300. Moreover, since the difference of the tape width and the recording method for kinds of cassettes, the running course of the tape and a signal processing part are switched by a tape guide setting means 400. A tape loading means 500 brings the tape in to a proper contact with a rotary head of a drum device. A linear tracking means 600 and a recording/reproducing means 700 are used to record or reproduce proper signals.
