ELECTRIC CONNECTOR WITH ERRONEOUS CONNECTION PREVENTING MECHANIM AND CONNECTING METHOD THEREFOR

PURPOSE:To prevent generation of an unexpected trouble such as explosion of an inflator due to an erroneous current flowing in either of a pair of connectors when the connectors are engaged with each other in electric wiring in an air bag device for an automobile or the like. CONSTITUTION:A lock arm 4 is disposed in a connector A while a hood 10 is provided in another connector B. A lock projection 12 is formed inside the hood. The connectors are locked by engagement of the lock arm 4 with the locking projection 12 at the time of complete engagement. Before use or engagement, an engagement preventing body C for inhibiting the engagement of the connector A is disposed in the hood 10. A lock arm 24 to be engaged with the lock projection 12 and an insertion lock portion 25 having a lock means with respect to a special extraction jig D are provided in the engagement preventing body.
