In a low calorie food composition containing lipids, all or part of the lipids are replaced by a calorie moderator consisting of an ester of a fatty acid and of an aliphatic polyol other than glycerol. …The calorie moderator is not hydrolysed by the gastrointestinal hydrolases and is consequently not absorbed by the body. …It has similar physicochemical properties to lipids, brings about a feeling of satiation and has no interfering effect on intestinal transit.
