The drawer slide consists of a primary rail (3) containing fixtures (11) for attaching it onto a structure, and a second rail (5) that can be fixed to a load. Between these two is a rolling pathway (7) in which run a series of ball bearings (9). An intermediary mounting (13) is placed between the load and the second rail so that it floats whilst the drawer is being slid open on the roller path. This mounting is locked to the primary rail by the engagement of locating pins (21) with holes (33) in brackets (23) mounted on the primary rail whilst the drawer is shut, thus relieving the load off the ball bearings. USE/ADVANTAGE - Slides for a drawer carrying heavy loads, batteries or compressors in vehicles, which can withstand vibrations without deterioration of the slideways.
