The engine cover, e.g. for a truck is assembled from a number of parallel, horizontal struts (2) with grooves along the top and bottom edges to clip in plates (4) which join the struts to form a complete flap. The struts are hollow section aluminium or aluminium alloy extrusions. The slots have retaining lips to hold the turned over edges of the plates in a simple clip fitting. Different widths of plates can be used to generate different styles of flap. USE/ADVANTAGE - The modular construction can be adapted to any shape of flap using common components. It provides a stable flap construction. |
