PURPOSE:To display correctly position information by a GPS receiver by matching it onto map information by map matching. CONSTITUTION:Position information is input from a satellite to a central processing unit 4 by a GPS receiver 2. The central processing unit 4 calculates the current position based on the position information. The central processing unit 4 calculates unit vectors n-3, n-2, n-1, and n from the running average of a group per unit time of the measured position which is measured by the GPS receiver 2. Then, a road matching the unit vectors n and n-1 the current and last time is retrieved from the roads in map information and then a current position P is matched onto a matched road R. Then, the current position is matched onto the road of the map information being displayed on a display 5 and is displayed. |
