Multi-purpose structural assembly - uses tubes and rails to make shape, covered by expanded metal and fibreglass/resin skins, and filled with polyurethane foam

The assembly is made from tubes (1, 2) to provide the required shape, expanded metal panels (3) attached to the tubes, with the space between them filled with polyurethane foam, and outer skins (5) of fibreglass and resin. The main tubes (1) can have tubular rails (2) attached to them on either side by welding to provide the space for the foam, and the expanded metal panels can be attached to the rails by welding or stapling. The outer resin and fibreglass skins serve both as a seal and a finish. USE/ADVANTAGE - Simple and quick to make with standard tools, good thermal and sound insulation, buoyant, rigid and light in weight.
