The switch is placed in a vacuum (100) in a flexible moulded container (21) with protruding sections (214). The container slides up inside the inner of an isolating distribution section (220) having external cooling fins (234). The envelope of the flexible section covers about one third of the inner tube. When the outer mechanical section (310) moves it contacts the switch inside the envelope, switching the switch ON or OFF. USE/ADVANTAGE - Cost effective switch for medium and high voltage line switching. Can be integrated with standard vacuum switches available in the trade.
