PURPOSE:To furnish an irregularly shaped basic refractory and, particularly, an irregularly shaped lining refractory for a refining vessel of molten steel which are excellent in corrosion resistance, slag erosion-infiltration resistance and spalling resistance. CONSTITUTION:One or two kinds of phosphate or borosilicate glass of 1 to 10 pts.wt. and metal fibers of 1 to 10 pts.wt. are compounded with a compound of 100 pts.wt. constituted of zirconia-containing magnesia aggregate of 30 to 80wt.% and magnesia powder of 20 to 70wt.% of which the particle size is 1mm or below, and a binder, a deflocculant, water, etc., are added to the compound thus prepared. Then an irregularly shaped refractory being excellent in slag erosion-infiltration resistance and spalling resistance and showing high corrosion resistance is obtained. This basic an irregularly shaped refractory is excellent in durability as a lining refractory for refining. |
