The support device includes the U-bolt (100), the threaded ends of which are secured, by nuts, in cross-arm drillings, with the legs (102,104) lying in a transverse vertical plane. The rigid synthetic insulator (200) has a central rod (212), with sheds (214), ending below in a standard conductor clamp and above in a ferrule (222) terminating (232) in two parallel lugs (234). The U-bolt loop (106), lying between these against a correspondingly curved control surface (231), is retained by a pin (240) through holes in each lug. Sufficient clearance is left to allow the insulator to swing in a transverse plane. Movement is limited by the straight sections of the U-bolt, the maximum swing being determined by the angle between the insulator axis (224) and the lug sides. ADVANTAGE - Provides well defined minimum clearances to support and superstructure.
