摘要 PURPOSE:To accurately detect a line-of-sight at all times independently of whether glasses re present or not, by seeking a distance from the device side to an object person from the spacing between selected two reflected image (P image) of acornea an judging whether the line-of-sight detection is properly performed or not from whether the positional information is within a normal range or not. CONSTITUTION:CPU 100 selectively turns on infrared rays emitting diodes (IRED). The selection of IRED is performed depending upon whether a photographer wears glasses or not or the like. Electric charges are stored into an image sensor 14 at a predetermined storage time. CPU 100 reads out the images of an eyeball of a photographer from the image sensor 14 which is charged up and at the same time executes the processings of extracting the feature of the pupil part of P image to detect one set of P image positions. Next, the center of the pupil and the diameter of the pupil are detected. The position of P image and the pupil are detected from the images of an eyeball to calculate out the direction of the photographer's line-of-sight and the coordinate on the visual field of a finder. The judgement of whether the line-of-sight detection is correct or not is made on the basis of a distance between the device and the eyeball and also a distance is sought from the interval of P images on the image sensor 14 to make judgement of whether the line-of-sight information is proper or not.
