PURPOSE:To provide an image density correcting device for an image forming device capable of correcting density at a standard density level without being affected by the setting of the density level which is made extremely thick/thin. CONSTITUTION:This image forming device has at least one mode between a manual mode in which plural density levels are provided to adjust image density to a set optional density level regardless of the density of an original, and an automatic mode in which the density of the original is detected, and the density is adjusted corresponding to the change of the density so as to automatically adjust the image density to an optional density level; and it is provided with frequency storage means 3 to 6 obtaining and storing the frequency distribution of the density level set at the time of forming an image fixed times in the past, a density value storage means 2 storing the density value at each density level, and density value updating means 7 and 8 obtaining the average value of the density value from the frequency and the density value at each density level and updating the density value at each density level of the means 2 based on the average value, so that the density value is updated by obtaining the average value for the density level within a fixed range out of plural density levels. |
