PURPOSE: To reduce the line width of a character. CONSTITUTION: The main line width (Fx, Fy) of elements constituting the character, a converged target value (Tx, Ty) common to all the elements and a rate (Rx, Ry) approximated to the converged target value are inputted. Rates reducing line width are calculated for the respective elements from the main line width (Fx, Fy), the converged target value (Tx, Ty) and the rate (Rx, Ry). Thus, the line width of the respective elements is changed so that the design rule of a medium character or a fine character at the time of reducing line width by multiplying the rates by values showing the line width of the plural parts of the respective elements. |
