According to the invention, the method of preparing a metal surface allows bonding of a coating to the latter. It is characterised by the following steps: a) a series of relief patterns (12) separated by hollowed spaces (13) are etched on a hard metal die (11), this etching having the effect of creating microcavities (15) in the metal adjacent to the said hollowed spaces (13); b) the said die (11) is applied by striking a disc made of softer metal than that of the die (11) in order to impress the relief patterns (12) and the microcavities of this die on the disc.
