The cable arrangement has a sensor component that monitors movements in the cables and/or the presence of a person or persons in the location of the cables. A monitoring component is connected to the sensor component and signals in the sensor component are received by a signal component which analyses them. The signal component determines whether the signals originate from an unauthorised effect on the cables and/or penetration into the cable location. The sensor component is an optical fibre and the signal component transmits an optical signal in the fibre. The signal component receives the signal sent through the fibre and compares the transmitted signal with the received signal. It then determines whether the difference arises from unauthorised effect on the cables and/or penetration in the cable location. Where such unauthorised effect and/or penetration are/is established the signal component releases an alarm. The signal component is an interferometer coupled to a computer and the signal polarisation is altered when there is dislocation of the fibres. |
