The fixing clip (12) is fitted into a recess (24,26) provided by the housing of the portable communications device (10) in its stowed position and is retracted from this recess into the working position, in which it can be held by a stop (30). Pref. a spring bias moves the fixing clip back into the recess when the stop is released, the clip being L-shaped with the longer arm cooperating with the side face of the housing to provide the retention switch, the shorter arm cooperating with the stop and acted on by the return spring bias. USE - For attaching portable communications device, e.g. portable handset of cordless telephone to belt or garment.
