Disclosed is an ultrasonic inspection procedure for the identification of objects and the determination of their location from echo signals from a reference object and the object under examination. To this end, the procedure generates both the cross-correlation function and the auto-correlation function and uses for examination purposes several features of the correlation analysis, such as the position of the maximum or the deviation from the value 1, which are linked by fuzzy logic. The reference object is correlated with the object under examination. The advantages of the method include high measurement reliability and simplified signal processing, as well as maximum utilization of the reduced data. |
