The hose system (12, 13, 20, 22, 24) has two free hose ends for connection of a patient, and a pump connection (16, 17) together with a gas connection are provided on the oxygenator (10). The hoses (12, 13, 20, 22,24) are connected to one another in a germ-tight manner. The free hose ends (20, 22) for connection of a patient are adhered or welded. To the oxygenator is connected a heat exchanger (11) and a pump. In the hose system a venous blood reservoir (14), pref. of flexible material and an arterial blood filter (15) are arranged. The complete equipment is sterilised by gamma radiation. The oxygenator has gas-permeable membranes of silicon, which are fitted on several spaced porous metal plates. USE/ADVANTAGE - Used as a blood oxygenator. Is used in cases of acute cardia insufficiency and is easy to operate.
