<p>A cable clamp (1) comprises two clamp members (2, 3) separated by a bridging member (4). Each clamp member comprises a first section (8) and a second section (9) which is pivotally mounted to the first section (8) and which can be closed around a pipe joint to either side of a socket. The first section (8) and second section (9) are connected by a locking device (11) which comprises a block (17) pivotally mounted on the first section (8). A bolt (21) is threadedly mounted or otherwise retained in a bore (19) in the block (17). In use, the bolt (17) is simply pivoted into a receiver portion in the second section (9) and the bolt (17) tightened by a pneumatic driver. The cable clamp (1) can easily and reliably be mounted in the extremely hostile operating conditions often encountered on oil drilling rigs.</p> |
