The process concerns the prodn. of a data storage disc store with a storage disc in a flat housing, driven by a motor with flat stator coils on magnetic steel housing plates, and a scanning head. To produce the housing, a flat composite is made with outer and inner layers of soft magnetic steel sheet and a flexible plastics wiring plate. Discs are stamped in pairs of opposite housing plates and holes and/or connecting elements are provided. The discs are connected to the electrical elements and tested electrically. Pairs of housing plates are stamped or cut, so that they are joined only by a flexible hinge. Precise holes for the disc holders are drilled in the premounted housing plates, then the holders with discs are inserted and the housing plates are cleaned intensively and bonded together permanently. A carriage frame, pref. of extruded Al or injection moulded plastics, is placed between the housing plates; and the intervening space is filled with liquefiable plastics, pref. cast silicone, epoxide resin, etc. USE/ADVANTAGE - The process is esp. useful for making data storage hard discs with discs in check card format (claimed). Prodn. is completely automatic and hence economical.
