The seal comprises a rotationally secured slide ring and a revolving slide ring. The two rings have on the circumference a tension surface for holding an elastic sealing ring. The revolving slide ring (2) has cooling vanes (10) and in the installed state is mounted on the side remote from the medium to be sealed. The cooling vanes can be set on the circumferential face opposite the tension face (9). These vanes are formed by radial recesses (10) and extend axially right up to the slide face of the slide ring (2).
