<p>A method and apparatus (200) for inserting a foldable intraocular lens (100) into an eye (404). The lens (100) is grasped and inserted through an incision (406) in the eye (404) with a forceps (402), while the lens (100) is held in a folded state within the loop (202) of the apparatus (200). After positioning the lens (100) within the eye (404), the tail (204) of the apparatus (200), which extends outside the eye (404), through the incision (406) is pulled to slide the loop (202) off the lens (100), thereby allowing the lens (100) to unfold. The invention is also a method and apparatus for folding the lens (100) and placing the folded lens (100) within the loop (202) of the apparatus (200) for insertion into the eye.</p> |
