摘要 Waste material contg. high degree of carbon is vitrified in an electric melting furnace (2). The off-gases are burnt in a chamber (3) and then fed to a heater (4) where raw material is preheated. Cold air is also fed into the heater so that the air leaving the heater has a temp. of 150-400 deg.C. This air is then partially fed back to the gas leaving the chamber (3) and partially to a gas washer and cleaning device (7). ADVANTAGE - The energy of the off-gases produced after converting CO to CO2 is fully used. Only small amounts of off-gas need to be disposed of and cost of the process is low.
