The block (8) hinges on the body of the instrument, securing the string ends and holding them taut. At the block, the strings (2) are so guided over a set of rollers (28,29, 23,24) that the master radii of their attachment points from the hinge axis are the same for all of them in relation to their coefficients of expansion. The attachment points of the strings are at different heights in a direction at right angles to the instrument surface, to determine the effective master radius. One or more adjustments are provided for the positions of these points. USE/ADVANTAGE - Good contact between strings and body for transmission of vibration in musical instrument with tremolo effect.
