A washing machine has a drum (2) which is mounted in a washing solution container (1) and rotates round a horizontal axis. The machine shell (4) has a dia. that tapers towards the drum axis middle. The drum (2) has a perforation only in the rear wall (7) and/or the front wall (5) area(s). The liq. collecting in the bottom space of the washing soln. container (1) is recirculated via a pump installation and a circulation line ending in the upper area (13) of the door opening (6). ADVANTAGE - The machine achieves an optimum wetting of the laundry.
